Tyro Health Online enables allied healthcare providers to raise private health insurance (PHI) claims online, without the need to swipe a physical private health insurance card on a machine. Prior to 3 February 2023, this functionality was powered by HICAPS and from 3 February 2023, this functionality is now powered by HealthPoint.

About the change to HealthPoint

The experience in Tyro Health Online of processing a private health insurance claim is largely unchanged - our help centre has been updated to reflect any changes. However, the technology working in the background to send your claim information to health funds, and ensuring you receive payments into your nominated account, will be powered by HealthPoint. However, please note the following:

  • Existing providers already registered for HICAPS online claiming were required to opt-in before 3 February 2023 to register their interest in switching onto HealthPoint and continue processing private health insurance claims in Tyro Health Online.

  • There are some changes to health funds that support digital claiming - check out the up to date list of participating HealthPoint funds.

  • Settlement bank details set up in Tyro Health Online were used for HealthPoint settlements, unless otherwise advised by you or you are already enabled for HealthPoint, in which case the details previously provided to Tyro will continue to be used.

How to set up digital private health insurance claiming (via HealthPoint)

Providers enabled for HealthPoint can have claiming activated both digitally and on a Tyro EFTPOS machine. However, the ability to activate digital private health insurance claiming will become available in the coming weeks - we'll email customers as soon as they're eligible to onboard for HealthPoint via Tyro Health Online. In the meantime, providers can still become enabled to submit claims via their Tyro EFTPOS machine.

If you require further assistance, you can contact the Tyro Health Online support team by clicking the chat bubble located on the bottom right of your browser or by emailing support@tyrohealth.com.
