You can send a payment request to a patient by SMS from the Medipass portal. This allows patients to easily pay for their services and claim a health fund benefit without having to download an app.
To send payment requests via SMS:
Click on the "Create payment request" button to the left side of your dashboard.
Select "Private Health Insurance", and fill in the details of the service.
You will now be able to select the date of the appointment, your practice and practitioner, and the patient.
When searching for your patient, type in the patient's mobile phone number. If the patient does not have a Medipass account there will be an option to send the payment request via SMS.
Once you have completed the details of this service, click "Create payment request".
The patient will then receive a text message with a link to approve their payment request.
If this is the first time your patient has used Medipass to approve a payment, they will first need to enter their private health insurance and payment card details. They can save these details in an account so that next time they transact, they will be able to approve their claim and gap in one click.
To disable payment requests via SMS for your business:
Log in to your Medipass portal and click "Business settings" on the left hand side. Scroll down to "Payment requests via SMS", and click the Enable button. You can also re-enable SMS payments again here.
Note: this will need to be done by a Business Admin.
